Description

This is a Vintage 1979 North American Flying Disc Series - 119G 40 mold Frisbee Disc. It is in excellent condition, but does have a nail delay mark on the underside. It has a red and gold hot stamp on white plastic. This 40 mold 119 commemorated the 1979 North American Flying Disc Series of tournaments: Qualifying tournaments for the prestigious 1979 World Frisbee Disc Championships in the Rose Bowl. The annual NAS discs featured a prominent player on the hot stamp each year, and in 1979 it was original Frisbee Hall of Fame inductee, and 1975 Women's World Frisbee Co-Champion, Jo Cahow doing the honors. This disc has a unique place in Frisbee history, as it was the first NAS disc to be run in white as opposed to unpigmented plastic. Three days before the unpigmented 119s were to be molded, Wham-O's 40 mold collapsed. Wham-O had enough white 119 stock in house to cover the NAS print run, so for the first time ever, NAS 119s were distributed in white. Some time after the collapsed mold crisis, a limited number of discs were eventually printed on unpigmented 40 mold plastic, satisfying some very lucky collectors. T hanks for looking!
